LYNK

[Lynk originates from a brief by Benchmark Furniture, which called for the design of a dual-purpose chair suitable for any museum space. The development was carried out under the supervision of Matter.]

Lynk is a compositional seating piece that responds to the spatial nature of museums and the evolving needs of their visitors, specifically addressing museum fatigue. Designed to inhabit the transitional foyers between exhibition rooms, it offers a relaxed and open seating arrangement that encourages rest, interaction, and reflection. Created as a set of two, Lynk encourages dimensional and undefined ways of sitting, allowing visitors to engage with the piece intuitively, whether individually or as part of a group. Its sculptural form and tactile quality is inspired by parks, to invite conversation and act as a meeting point where people can share their thoughts and impressions.

The project is rooted in the belief that museums are not only spaces for discovering art, but for learning and connecting. Lynk supports this by creating opportunities for communal reflection, grounded in sustainable pedagogical ideas that prioritize collective experience and learning over individual. Through refined craftsmanship and a deep respect for materiality, the design reveals the expressive potential of wood, its curves and edges offering both comfort and curiosity. Lynk eases both the physical and mental demands of the museum visit, enriching the overall experience and encouraging return engagement through thoughtful, inclusive design.

Lynk is presented in a variety of palettes; Red Cognac Stain with Black Cherry stain, Ash Brown stain with Ebonised wood, and Whitened oil with Natural oil.
